Jessie spent some time with J-14 and talked about her sound, writing with Kara from American Idol, and more!
J-14: How would you describe your sound?
Jessie: There’s a little bit of pop and a little bit of country. If you like Shania Twain, it’s similar but it’s newer. She came out in the 90’s and I’m doing something that’s different. There are hip-hop beats and pop music with a fiddle or a banjo and talking about being strong and independent women.
J-14: What was it like writing “Wanted” with Kara DioGuardi?
Jessie: She is great. She’s a fireball. She was feisty and tough. We got along perfectly.
J-14: What’s your favorite song that you recorded?
Jessie: My favorite song is called “Blue Jeans,” which is in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. It’s played four times and it’s on the soundtrack.
J-14: Who is your biggest musical influence?
Jessie: Shania Twain, love Shania. She’s so feisty and she’s actually a brunette. There’re so many blondes out right now. I love that Miley and Demi Lovato and all those brunettes are coming out of the works.
